Icelandic Horses are always nice to observe when you travel around in Iceland. They are very comfortable in harsh conditions and always seem happy. When you approach the fences they will rapidly join you. Maybe a little afraid at first but their curiosity will always win.
These horses have a character of their own and are still a little wild. Even if they have a “pony size” they are strong enough to be mounted.  Equitation is a common sport in Iceland and they can perform five different gaits. Iceland counts about 80.000 of these protected horses.
